Gunfire Noise Analysis
CAS are at the forefront of noise modelling for live fire artillery ranges. Our Gunfire Noise Analysis Tool (GNAT) has been used by the MoD for planning applications at Otterburn, and for the management of noise at Salisbury Plain.
The CAS Gunfire Noise Analysis Tool (GNAT) models the sound levels of both gun and shell noise and predicts how this noise will spread and attenuate taking account of the weapon type, the terrain and the prevailing weather conditions. Results are then displayed as easy readable noise contours over a map of the area and as a table of noise levels for key sensitive areas.
The GNAT has proven to be a significant asset in both the planning, and the noise management, phases of artillery ranges.
